well.. y'day was my first try to play tennis! bought a racket at GART Sports and rushed to Shailu's place y'day evening. Seeing the ease with with Agassi and sampras play, on TV... I was planning to challenge Leader paes and Bhoopathi in a couple of days! but man! what a horrifying realization! oof! my cricketing instincts allowing me to only hit sixers of the tennis ball! we had only 3 balls.. so spent most of the time running around to collect the balls! I was initially thinking that serving will be real difficult! but i guess if I try not to hit the ball too hard, I can land in a few serves! but the suck big time in returning. I always seems to edge the ball! or sky them past a couple of courts! After 2 hrs of giving agany to Shailu! we stopper! Shailu being the sport, has offered to play every weekend, even after seeing my brilliant technique :) After the game! went back to Shailu's place. Shilpa made tasty Dosa's with onion chatni and aalu palsy.. yummy :) Hope I can keeps the balls in the court next time around! Also we better buy a dozen balls, easier that way! dont need to run around for the ball every time u hit it out :) Nother update! finally signed up for Swimming lessons at YMCA, starting from 19th.Current Mood: calm

Just came back from office... A thunder storm is on its way! the winds up in the 30 mps.. Thunder lightning every where... is it some on up there having a big party with flashy disco lights.. or..is it mother nature scolding us for some mistake we did!
All this thunder and lighting, just the symphony before the the royal entrance... looks like its gonna be a strong one! tomorrow is gonna be a beautiful day!
the storm in me too is raging on! waiting for the storm to end... hoping for that beautiful tomorrow!Current Mood: contemplative Current Music: silence!

On saturday, had been to Book-O-Holic... found this book "Train to Pakistan" by Khushwant Singh.
The start did not impress me... thought it was one of those masala novels... thought of stopping... Good that I did not stop.
Its a realy powerful book. The novel centered around the life in Mano
Majra, a small village in Punjab, on the border of India and Pakistan.
The period is summer of 1947, the time when Hindustan and Pakistan were
divided. The time when millions of people died to meaningless hate.
This novel depicts the horrors of the riots, the haunting trains filled with dead bodies... coming in from both sides.
As the American Scholar describes, it indeed is "A brew of brimstone, blood and nitric acid served pipping hot"

well... feeling damn hungry. Nothing edible in sight. Plan to cook
eerulli aalugadde huli. Plan would not be the right word I suppose.
Probably "try" would be the
closest. The thought of this dish brings fond memories. My mom used to
makes this atleast alternate weekends. The combination, "sanna eerulli aalugadde huli" and "raagi mudde".
This was like a ritual. My mom would prepare the raagi mudde nad bring
it to the dining place. Dad would mix it properly with little
more butter and separate it out into balls. The time would have been
3:00 in the afternoon. Woo... what a lunch... my mounth is already
watering. hmm... and the "huli" I make... hope its edible atleast.
I kind of like cooking. Its real fun to cook for someone, or when you
are in a group. But cooking for your self is a real big bore.
Till a couple of weeks ago, Vineetha and Asha were my food providers.
God bless them for all the yummy food they provided me.... Did not have to
fall into the cooking wing. Started cooking after they returned to
"namma bengalooru".
The strange thing about my cooking, what ever I try to cook, every thing tastes the same... kind of funny...
Heard a good news from Ashish. This saturday is supposed to be the aniversary of the Tempe in Wichita. On behalf of that they will be serving food :))) .. isn't that cool...
and thats not all.... icing on the cake is, there will be dinner too.. on sunday.. on behalf of Fathers Day..... yippeeee!!!!
Its been quite some time and the cooker still is not giving any
indication of cooking the veggies... hope I have put enough water in
the cooker... the let me go and check!

I am hooked on to this song by Arlo Guthrie, The Last Train ... Its one of his originals. Don't know what drew me towards it. Is it its cool lyric, amazing rendering of the guitar or Arlo's soulful voice in this.. What ever it is, Its a real good find... Thanks to Steve for introducing me to Arlo's music...
